What is the Exam Pattern & Syllabus for FMGE Oct 2026?

FMGE is a computer-based examination consisting of 300 MCQs, divided into Part A and Part B, each comprising 150 questions, with a duration of 2.5 hours. It examines preclinical, paraclinical, and clinical MBBS, and this examination is administered in English.

• Time Bound Sections: Each of the two parts of the FMGE question paper is now divided into multiple sections with fixed time limits.

This includes 50 minutes for answering and 1 additional minute to accommodate in exam biometric and attendance checks.

Digital copies or black-and-white printouts are not accepted, and no entry will be permitted without a valid admit card.  

• Mandatory Documents: Along with the coloured admit card, candidates must bring at least one original, valid, and unexpired government-issued photo ID (Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, or Aadhaar Card with photograph). Photocopies or IDs displayed via DigiLocker are strictly rejected. The name on the photo ID must match the name on the admit card exactly. (Note: If using Aadhaar, ensure your biometric authentication is unlocked on the UIDAI portal on exam day). Candidates claiming scribe or compensatory time must also carry their valid UDID/Disability Certificate.  

• Reporting Time & Center Entry: 

• Late arrivals will be denied entry under any circumstances.  

• Prohibited Items & Strict Dress Code (No Stationery Allowed): 

• No Stationery: Pen, pencil, eraser, writing pad, and rough paper are strictly prohibited and will not be provided or permitted inside the lab.  

• No Food or Drinks: Water bottles, soft drinks, and snacks (packed or open) are not permitted beyond the security checkpoint.  

• No Electronic Devices: Mobile phones, smartwatches, health bands, Bluetooth devices, earphones, calculators, and AI-enabled glasses are strictly banned.  

• No Ornaments & Accessories: Wallets, belts, caps, goggles, masks, handbags, and all jewellery items (rings, earrings, nose pins, chains, bracelets, brooches) are barred.  

• Note: Test centers do not provide storage facilities for candidate belongings.  

• Security Frisking & Biometric Verification: All candidates will undergo mandatory security screening via Hand-Held Metal Detectors (HHMD), physical frisking (with separate enclosed booths for female candidates), and ear inspections. Finger biometrics and Face ID capture will take place at registration, during the exam, and at each bio-break. Candidates are advised to avoid tattooing their fingers with henna/mehndi or ink to ensure smooth biometric capture.  

• Exam Conduct & Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA): The FMGE is a proprietary exam; reproducing, sharing, or discussing actual exam questions/answers on social media, messaging apps, or with coaching centers is illegal and treated as Unfair Means (UFM). UFM violations can lead to immediate cancellation of results and debarment for up to 14 attempts or 7 years.
