What is the NEET PG Counselling Round 1 Result?
In the NEET PG Counselling Round 1, the seats are offered based on rank and choice. Here, candidates can Free Exit, Accept & Report, or Accept & Upgrade. Those who are not allotted will be automatically moved to Round 2. Selected candidates have to report with documents.
Round 1 is the first crucial phase of NEET PG counselling results, when most top-ranked applicants secure seats in their desired branches and colleges. Let’s see some crucial elements of this round:
- Seats are distributed according to rank and the highest choice.
- Those who take the position must decide between:
- Free Exit (leaving counselling without penalty)
- Accept and Report (enroll in college)
- Accept & Upgrade (keep your seat while you wait for the Round 2 upgrade)
- Students who are not seated immediately move on to Round 2.
Documents needed following the results of Round 1 include:
- NEET PG scorecard
- Letter of allocation
- An MBBS degree, along with a certificate of internship
- Certificate of Permanent or Provisional Registration
- Valid evidence of identification (ID Proof like PAN Card, Adhaar Card, etc.)
- Certificate of caste or EWS (if applicable)
What is the NEET PG Counselling Round 2 Result?
The NEET PG Round 2 result allows all the candidates who were not allotted any seat in round 2 to participate without any free exit with binding seat acceptance. All upgraded candidates will be required to report to the college/institute physically with original documents.
Round 2 is yet another crucial stage of NEET PG counselling results, especially for those who were not selected in Round 1 or are anticipating an upgrade. Candidates who have been assigned seats must enrol in the college, as there is no free exit in this round, unlike in Round 1; otherwise, their security deposit will be forfeited.
Now, let’s see some crucial elements of this 2nd round:
- The allocation is final and cannot be withdrawn.
- Candidates who selected “Willingness to Upgrade” in the first round will receive automatic consideration.
- Depending on the MCC notification, new registrations may or may not be permitted.
- After seats left in Round 1, along with state quota seats that have been returned, newly added seats become available.
- The applicants who have been upgraded must report to their newly assigned college.
Candidates allotted a seat in Round 2 must physically report to the allotted college with original documents. The list remains the same as Round 1, but verification is stricter because Round 2 allotment is binding.

What are the Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy Rounds?
The Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy Rounds are the last rounds that help fill the remaining seats after Round 2. In the Mop-Up round, another fresh choice is given to candidates who could not be allotted a seat in any college. In contrast, in the Stray Vacancy round, the leftover seats are filled directly at the respective colleges; there is no new registration for this round.
After Round 2, the counselling process moves into its final stages: the Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy Rounds. These rounds ensure that any remaining seats are filled efficiently and give eligible candidates one last chance to secure a seat.
1. Mop-Up Round
The filling of choices opens a new selection process, with renewed opportunities for candidates to list their preferences. Only those who have not been allotted any seat in previous rounds are eligible to participate in this round.
This round contains only new, fresh allotments. No seat upgrades are allowed, and previously allotted seats are not carried forward.
2. Stray Vacancy Round
This is the final round of counselling to fill vacancies that may remain after the mop-up round. Allotments in this round are made directly by the concerned colleges based on the candidate lists shared by MCC.
No new registrations take place at this stage; only already registered candidates with MCC are considered.
