Important FMGE Schedule Update :The NBEMS has decided to conduct the FMGE examination thrice a year, from 2026, in December/January, April/May and August/September. Additionally, another FMGE examination is scheduled to be held this year on October 31, 2026, which was earlier scheduled for January 9, 2027.
Who Can Apply for FMGE?
Before registering, make sure you meet the basic eligibility rules set by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS):
- Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
- Medical Degree: You need a primary medical qualification (like an MBBS equivalent) from a recognized medical institution outside India.
- Embassy Verification: Your medical degree must be verified and authenticated by the Indian Embassy in the country where it was obtained.
- Eligibility Certificate: Depending on when you took admission abroad, you may need an Eligibility Certificate issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

To accommodate the newly added October 2026 exam in its new thrice-a-year format, the NBEMS has officially postponed the winter session (originally set for January 9, 2027). How to Apply for FMGE?
The application process is strictly online. When the registration portal opens, follow these simple steps to fill out your form smoothly:
- Register Online: Go to the official NBEMS website (natboard.edu.in). Click on the section for FMGE and complete the new registration to get your User ID and password.
- Fill the Form: Log in and carefully fill out your personal details, academic background, and contact information.
- Upload Documents: Upload clear, scanned copies of your passport-size photo, signature, left thumb impression, and required certificates. Check the image size guidelines carefully!
- Pick an Exam City: Choose your preferred test city from the given options.
- Pay the Fee & Submit: Pay the required fee online and click submit. Remember to print the confirmation page for your records.
Documents You Need
Avoid the last-minute rush by keeping digital copies of these documents ready in a folder on your laptop:
- Valid Passport and Visa
- Recent passport-size photograph, scanned signature, and left thumb impression
- Primary Medical Qualification Certificate (your MBBS equivalent degree)
